Looks like I need to research new and exciting ways to eat cucumbers. I harvested 15 today, and the plants are not slowing down in the least. 15 per week seems plausible for the rest of September.
The payoff is really quite amazing. I bought a pack of something like a hundred seeds for $1.69. I wanted two mounds, about three feet apart. They recommended sowing eight seeds per hill and thinning them. I planted sixteen seeds. All germinated. I thinned them and potted up the extras. I intended to give away the extras but it didn’t quite happen. Now I have eight plants and the harvest is astounding. The plants make a nice groundcover too, and bees like the flowers. The plants appear to be deer-resistant as well.
