West End While climbing on some rocks just below my house a couple of days ago, the top of a rock appeared to move and run off – it was a turkey, who had been incubating on a nest of thirteen eggs. The turkey’s behavior was different from the behavior with young chicks – the parent simply ran off and did not attempt to divert my attention from the nest. And it is true, the eggs are not at all camouflaged, and so without a turkey on top of them, they will be seen and eaten. Click the photo for a full-size view.
