http://californiawithkids.com/tag/driving/ A recent report on sexual abuse in Ireland has concluded that the hierarchy’s practices regarding sexual abuse have not changed much, with the hierarchy covering up cases two-thirds of the time, in cases from 1996 to 2007, even after new guidelines had been released. The Vatican in particular came up for rebuke, as it apparently noted that the guidelines, drawn up by the council of Irish bishops, was “not an official document” and individual bishops had the “freedom to ignore” the guidelines.
Mobara It’s striking in particular because I just recently heard a conservative Catholic claim that the documents from the Second Vatican Council could also be ignored, because it was merely a “pastoral Council” – as if there could be any other type, or any higher purpose for the Church leaders than a pastoral one. “Let your yes be yes and your no no; anything beyond this is from the evil one.”
