Stage Four: Charlottesville to D.C.

I spent two nights in Charlottesville, enjoying the delightful conversation of my hostess as well as the cultured atmosphere of the town.  Here there is a flourishing pedestrian culture – Market Street having been entirely converted to a pedestrian mall – as well as bookshops, pizzerias, and the like.  I admired the spring gardens and chopped some wood.  And on Thursday afternoon I headed out to Washington.

The truck seemed to be virtually healed by this point.  It required no oil on the trip from Tennessee, and would not require oil again on the trip.  But I still had to check it every 75 miles just to make sure.
