Palin becomes de facto president-elect; but several of the electors in the electoral college declare that they will not cast their votes for her. Complete chaos ensues, but in the end she squeaks by and has enough electors. She is a disaster when it comes to governance; but also becomes the most famous woman in American history, with her face on coinage, her story in children’s books, etc., and serves as a perpetual rebuke to identity politics.
That’s the worst-case scenario.
