Getting Around.
03-Jun-09A most unusual five days in New York City, spending time in all five boroughs as well as Nassau County and Jersey City.
On Tuesday I drove from Richmond Hill to Jersey City, leaving at 2:45 p.m. I arrived in Jersey City, which is certainly less than 15 miles away as the Crow Flies and perhaps closer to 10, at 5:45. I think my nerves still have not quite recovered either. Three hours of driving in traffic with a stick-shift car will do that to you (with no air conditioning, I will add).
But the City looked amazing, and to see it from Brooklyn Heights, the Battery, Staten Island (including the ferry), and Exchange Place reminded me just how watery and unusual it is among the great cities of the world.
